    The key logistics sector, essential for the efficient and economic distribution and delivery of goods and services on which industry and consumers rely, has received a welcome and substantial boost for skills development following today’s announcement from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) of a £61 million investment in employment led projects designed to boost enterprise, jobs and growth.

  • 23/02/2011Transport Vacancies Buck Unemployment TrendWhilst national unemployment figures published this week revealed an increase to almost 2.5 million in the quarter to November, the most recent information on vacancies for transport occupations in January 2011 showed increased opportunities in almost every category compared with January 2010.  In particular, HGV driver vacancies for the month were over double of January last year at 11,341, compared with just 5,432 in 2010 – an increase of almost 110 per cent.
